In just three days we will be wrapping up our Fall membership drive. Thank you so much to everyone who has donated so far this year. We are so grateful for your support, and can’t wait to use your contributions to continue to inform residents of our region about urbanism and the power of policymaking.
As I look over the results from our campaign over the last two months, I am feeling immensely grateful to our readers but know we still have a ways to go.
As you all know, GGWash is facing a budget deficit as a result of the impacts of the pandemic. And we are really hoping to grow our individual giving program — the GGWash Neighborhood — to help address those shortfalls and ensure we can keep our coverage strong.
We planned to grow our Neighborhood by 100 new Neighbors and I’m thrilled that we are only 25 new members away from making our membership goal! Thanks so much to all of our readers that joined the Neighborhood for the first time this year. If you’ve never donated to support our work before, it is the single most impactful way you can ensure we are able to keep writing the insightful and thought-provoking coverage we are known for. We’d love to have you officially join our community.
Unfortunately, while we are likely to make our new membership goal, we also needed to raise $15,000 this Fall from renewing Neighbors, and we are barely 30% of the way there. To our current and former Neighbors, please know that your support is vital to ensuring that GGWash is able to operate as an independent and autonomous publication.
Each and every article that we’ve published in the last year was possible because of your support, and we are so grateful to you all for giving us the opportunity to publish articles like this piece about plans for a mega-park in Richmond, or this article about a proposed light rail in Southern Maryland, and of course our elections coverage. If we don’t reach our goal in the next three days, it’s not the end of the world, but I will have to continue to ask you for money until we do (which is not our favorite part of my job).
