GGWash hosts bimonthly meet-ups at Grand Duchess in Adams Morgan. Join this month’s meetup on the 24th from 3:00 - 5:00 pm to meet others who want to see more affordable housing, fewer trips by car, and the land-use regulations necessary to support the above—plus, hear what GGWash is working on, particularly in northwest DC, and what you can do to get involved. Hear from trailblazers in transportation: Celebrate Women’s History Month with the Mineta Transportation Institute at their virtual panel with women transportation leaders in the academic, public, private, and nonprofit sector held every Tuesday in March. This week’s webinar features guest Jannet Walker-Ford, the senior vice president & national transit and rail business leader at Williams Sale Partnership (WSP) USA. Walker-Ford will share her personal narrative and insights into balancing assertiveness and emotional intelligence in the industry. Learn about analytical efforts to track housing policies: Join the Urban Institute in a collective effort to enhance housing production and affordability in the DC, Maryland, and Virginia region by exploring the Housing Indicator Tool (HIT). This seminar will discuss the impact of the 2024 HIT release on tracking policies across jurisdictions and how these policies aim to protect residents from discrimination and displacement through production and preservation outcomes. Saturday, March 23:

Attend a Metrobus numbered adventure: Transit Enthusiasts of DC hosts a variety of events about all things transit including presentations, debates, and transit field trips. This Tuesday, they are hosting a Metrobus journey through all seven numbered routes- 30s through 90s- in sequence. These numbered routes are roughly 90 years old, and resemble similar routes to streetcars. After the expedition, the group will gather at Union Station food court to enjoy lunch and compare notes. Books and Blossoms: Hill Family Biking is teaming up with DC Public Library for a family-friendly bike ride from Eastern Market Metro Plaza to the stunning new SW Library for a special story time and Cherry Blossom peeping opportunities all along the route during expected peak bloom!
