WMATA board asks DC Council to delay free bus plan
DC may need to delay its free Metrobus plan following a letter from WMATA’s board expressing concerns, although the board supports the proposed expansion of 24-hour bus service on some routes in DC. The DC Council had proposed funding the initiative through the reallocation of funds away from the K Street Transitway. Council Chair Phil Mendelson suggests that he may require that any restoration of funding for the K Street Transitway be contingent upon a project redesign.
