Metro to increase Red Line frequencies
Metro will increase train frequencies on the Red Line this coming Monday in response to growing weekday ridership, marking the second increase since March. Trains will now arrive every six minutes during rush hours. Metro is phasing more trains back to service after the 7000-series cars were pulled out of service in 2021. Opposition from some Rock Creek Manor neighbors leads to delay in sidewalk construction
There are currently no sidewalks in certain residential areas of the Rock Creek Manor neighborhood in Montgomery County. A project to build them has been planned for multiple years but has been delayed due to recent resident opposition. Many parents support building sidewalks so that their children will be safer walking to school. However, some are concerned about tree removals necessary to make space for the sidewalks. Hundreds line up for DC public housing eligibility event
The DC Housing Authority is sunsetting its current wait list and opening a new one in the summer. May 1 was the last public event for people on the current waitlist for many to inquire about their eligibility for a public housing unit and remain on the list. Some people have been on the waiting list for over 30 years. Previous eligibility events have been unsuccessful: a similar event in March did not result in a single new accepted housing unit offer. Arlington County selects three sites for complete streets projects
