“Dave Thomas Circle” Wendy’s building to be part of DC Walls festival
The building will be one of 19 sites in the DC Walls festival; an annual event centered along the Metropolitan Branch Trail, where a mural is repainted every year and new murals are painted on other sites by artists invited from around the globe. VA housing advocates want Youngkin to consider subsidies, not just regulation for affordable housing
Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin agrees with the advocates that housing is too expensive and affordable housing is needed. However, he only wants to use zoning and regulatory changes to provide housing, not loans and subsidies from the state. Number of NoVA federal tax filers has dropped
Northern Virginia, along with several other Virginia municipalities is seeing a population decline in people who are eligible to file taxes. While this doesn’t count the number of people moving into the region who aren’t eligible to file taxes, it does suggest a financial shift in the population of Virginia’s major municipalities. Bowie Mill Bikeway could be finished ahead of schedule
The proposed Northeastern Montgomery County sidepath along Bowie Mill Road and two adjacent roadways would be able to open in FY2028 pending more funding being put in the county’s capital budget for design and planning. Fence at the Supreme Court building removed, for now
While the fencing was removed over the weekend, the building remains closed to the public, as it has been since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic in March 2020. The fencing went up in May after the leak of the draft decision of Dobbs v. Jackson. (Sarah Y. Kim / DCist)
