DC ups resources for first-time homebuyers
Beginning Oct. 1 first-time homebuyers could qualify for over $200,000 in assistance from the District, as part of DC’s Home Purchase Assistance Program (HPAP). The funds will come in the form of low-interest loans that households can defer repayment on for up to five years. Before, qualified HPAP home buyers could receive up to $80,000. Streatery on Newell Street in Silver Spring to reopen to traffic
The Newell Street streatery in Silver Spring will reopen to traffic after Labor Day, Montgomery Department of Transportation officials said, citing a parks and planning survey that noted the closed street got mixed reviews from the community. A free shuttle service to debut when Reston Town Center Metro station opens
The Reston Town Center Association along with several property owners are offering free shuttle service to and from the Reston Town Center Metro station once it opens to passengers. Two linkRTC shuttle vans will run weekdays from 7 am to 7 pm to six locations around the Reston Town Center Metro station. Elrich still leads Montgomery County Executive race in ballot recount
As the recount in the Montgomery County executive primary race wraps up, incumbent Marc Elrich is still ahead of challenger David Blair, who was able to close Elrich’s lead by three votes. While preliminary results were released by the county board of elections Monday night, an audit of mail-in ballots is expected today (Tuesday). Concept plans show a more green and walkable Langston Blvd
New concept plans for Langston Blvd, also known as Route 29, imagine a more pedestrian-friendly “Green Main Street” by 2050, with street trees, wider sidewalks, and some bike infrastructure. The surrounding area would also include mix-use development, and hopefully s greater supply of various housing types. (ARLnow)
DC’s request for National Guard assistance with migrants denied again
The Biden administration again refused Mayor Bowser’s request to deploy the DC National Guard to help with the thousands of migrants who are being sent by charter bus to the District from Texas and Arizona.
