Federal Highway Administration delays toll lanes plan in Maryland
The Federal Highway Administration did issue a decision on the lanes as scheduled on Friday (August 5), to place the hold on the project in order to complete their review of public feedback. Maryland Governor Larry Hogan has vowed to fight back to ensure the project is started while he is still in office. The project, however, may extend past his term. (Bruce DePuyt / Maryland Matters)
DC will not receive National Guard aid for migrants
The aid, namely to use the DC Armory as a processing center, was requested a month ago to help with the care of the forced busloads from Texas and Arizona. While the aid request was criticized by several on-the-ground aid nonprofits and mutual aid societies, all groups are running out of resources and some of the migrants are sleeping in the alleyways behind at-capacity DC shelter buildings. Op-ed: Lerner-owned property holds back walkability in MoCo
