What would cities look like if they were designed by women? Globally, women hold only 10% of senior architecture and urban planning positions and only 5% of city leadership positions. The inadequacy of gender expertise in urban planning has meant that women’s access to essential services and economic opportunities has often been an afterthought in the design of urban environments. This gap has led to inconveniences and at times dangers for women, children, and gender minorities. Join UrbanShift at 8:00 am for a discussion about how gender-inclusive urban planning and design can reshape gender roles and create safer, happier, and more equitable cities for all. RSVP here.

What does increased federal infrastructure funding mean for the Washington region? Billions of federal dollars are pouring into DC, Maryland, and Virginia through the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA). It’s enough funding to have a dramatic positive impact on how people move around the region…but will it? Sifting through the jargon and the legalese is a lot, so we’re bringing in the federal policy experts. Join GGWash and our friends, Benito Pérez, and Stephen Kenny from Transportation for America for a discussion about what projects are getting funded in our region and what this federal infusion means for the work to move our region toward a sustainable, equitable transportation system. You can learn more and RSVP here.
