Cyclist doored, police don’t take report
A cyclist got doored in Clarendon, but Arlington police never filed a report because they thought he wasn’t injured. Turns out he was, and now he can’t find the driver to seek compensation. (TBD)
Arlington rejects design by fire truck
The Arlington County Board is pushing back against removing parking on one side of a narrow street. It would speed fire trucks once in a while, but also speed other traffic and take away parking. (ARLnow)

Klein defends DDOT
Gabe Klein responded to Mayor Gray’s transportation transition report, calling it politically-motivated. He defended DDOT’s work as a national model and said the Council, CFO and auditors had no problem with the books. (Examiner)

Various guards don’t know you can photograph buildings
Court security and US Marshals detained a photographer and deleted his video just for taking pictures outside the Moultrie Courthouse. DHS has said there are no security issues photographing the outsides of buildings. (Pixiq) … Meanwhile, guards at the Department of Sewer Services told David Garber he couldn’t take pictures of buildings on 1st Street, SE.
Coucil may raid solar rebates
The DC Council may cancel solar energy rebates to get $800,000 for the budget gap. The program was funded with an energy surcharge set up for just that purpose, and there are 500 people on the waiting list. (The Hill is Home)

Amtrak will add free wireless service on the Northeast Corridor beyond Acela trains. (Dr. Gridlock) … Big Bear is trying to bring free wireless to everyone in Bloomingdale, and a federal grant may build a backbone in DC so other organizations can do the same in other neighborhoods.
