Events: What lessons from the past can inform how tenants can become better organizers today?

The coronavirus pandemic has transformed the already critical issue of housing in the US to an emergency call to action. But, DC has a history of taking up the challenge of housing through organizing. You can be a part of the conversation as UDC CAUSES launches “Creating an Urban Commons: Tenant Organizing & Housing Cooperatives in DC,” beginning at noon on Friday, September. 11.

Two organizations make their pick for the at-large DC Council seat: The Sierra Club and 350 DC will make a joint announcement of the candidate they’re endorsing for the non-majority party at-large DC Council seat. The candidate will make brief remarks and then take questions from DC voters. This free event will be from 7 to 8 pm Tuesday. Please RSVP here.

How will the transportation industry make it safe for riders to travel during the pandemic?: The American Public Transportation Association (APTA) is launching its “Health and Safety Commitments Program,” in order to address the industry’s pledge to make public transportation safe for riders. The APTA will go over policies and procedures to ensure that rider’s safety concerns are met.

What impact will automated delivery have on businesses?: The Eno Center for Transportation is hosting a virtual webinar about the future of automated delivery services, and it’s impact on commerce. Speakers include: Matthew Lipka, Head of Policy at Nuro, Alia Verloes, a principal consultant at Steer, and Paul Lewis, VP of Policy and Finance at the Eno Center for Transportation.
