Soho shoppers seek sidewalk space

I’ve written before that SoHo streets could be enormously improved if we simply took away some parking (accommodating about 6 people per block) in favor of larger sidewalks (accommodating hundreds of people per hour per block).

Transportation Alternatives just released a study (PDF) of visitors to Prince Street. Among their unsurprising findings were that only 9% of shoppers take private cars to get to SoHo, 80% feel the street is crowded, and by a 5 to 1 margin, they would be likely to visit more often if parking was turned into sidewalk space.
