Help breathe new life into Tenleytown, join in on the first inaugural StreetsCamp, learn about growth policy in Montgomery County, and ride trails with Prince George’s County elected officials. Also, head up to Baltimore for a Kinetic Sculpture Race.

New vision for Tenley: Tenleytown is a neighborhood ripe for change. Catholic University’s City and Regional Planning program, along with Ward 3 Vision and residents of Tenleytown, completed a “visioning” exercise to explore future growth and development. Join them on Saturday, June 13, at 10am in Room 200 of Mary Graydon Hall on the American University Campus, 4400 Massachusetts Ave NW, to review the findings and share your opinions. RSVP to Ward 3 Vision for access.

After the jump: Streetscamp, ACT meeting, Prince George’s County Trails, Kinetic Sculpture Race, and moreā€¦

StreetsCamp: Don’t forget to register for the inaugural StreetsCamp! Learn (or brush up on) all of the advocacy skills and technical know-how you need to make positive change in your community at the day-long summit on Saturday, June 20. GGW will be there to talk blogging, as will a number of other terrific groups, including the Coalition for Smarter Growth, the Congress for the New Urbanism, Mobility Lab, and Safe Routes to School National Partnership. See you there!

Learning from California: Head over to this month’s Action Committee for Transit meeting with with Nat Bottigheimer and Matthew Ridgway of Fehr & Peers to learn about what Montgomery County can learn from California’s growth policy. The meeting is next Tuesday, June 9. It starts at 7:30 at the Silver Spring Civic Center, One Veterans Place.

Prince George’s County Trails: Prince George’s County wants to improve their trail system. A new trails master plan will help reach that goal. Learn about the plan and give your input on trail location and design at several open houses. There’s one coming up that will focus on the north part of the county, and it’s on Wednesday, June 10, from 6 pm to 12:30 pm at 6600 Kenilworth Ave in Riverdale, MD. Before the meeting, at 4:30 pm, there is a bike ride and walk with county executives to get a first-hand view of the trail expansion. The ride leaves from the same location as the open house. RSVP is requested.

Bike task force: The final meeting for the DC Council Committee on Transportation and the Environment’s Bicycle and Pedestrian Task Force is this Thursday, June 11, from 2 pm to 4 pm at the John A. Wilson Building, 1350 Pennsylvania Avenue, NW. The topic is updating the District’s bike and pedestrian laws and regulations.

Kinetic Sculpture Race: For a wonderful combination of bikes, art, sculpture, and competition, head to the Kinetic Sculpture Race this Sunday, June 14, at 11 am at the American Visionary Art Museum (800 Key Highway in Baltimore). Kinetic sculptures are amphibious, human-powered works of art custom-built for a race course that traverses land, water, mud, and water. Be sure to check out the spectator’s guide and dress code before you come.
