Live chat: Dr. Zachary Schrag, Friday at 1 pm

This Friday at 1 pm, Greater Greater Washington will host its first live guest in what we hope will be a series of guests on the blog.

Our first guest will be Dr. Zachary Schrag, Assistant Professor of History at George Mason University and author of the book, The Great Society Subway: A History of the Washington Metro. The book “examines the politics, planning, engineering, architecture, finance, and operations of the nation’s second-largest rail transit system, arguing that Metro is best understood as the concrete manifestation of Great Society ideals.” (schrag.info)

Please tune in live at 1 pm on Friday when Dr. Schrag will be discussing the history of the Washington Metro system and taking your questions. If you won’t be able to tune in at that time feel free to leave your questions in the comments and we’ll select some for the discussion.

Meanwhile, Nat Bottigheimer, head of Metro’s planning division, is hosting a chat of his own at noon today on the Metro site.
