Over half of Greater Washington rental listings on Zillow featured concessions in December
A new Zillow report found that 52.7% of DC rental listings on its site offered at least one concession like free rent for a period of time or free parking. This is higher than the nationwide trend where around one-third of all rental listings had a concession. (Urban Turf)
Pedestrian hit by subway in Baltimore
A pedestrian fell on the train tracks at Upton Station in Baltimore around noon on Wednesday and was struck by a Metro SubwayLink train and trapped prior to being freed by emergency responders. Two new Crystal City apartment buildings set to open next month
Two large apartment buildings in Crystal City, with 808 units of housing between them, are set for residents to move in within the next month. The two apartment buildings, which replaced an aging office building, are a three-minute walk to Amazon’s new headquarters and are near what is expected to be Crystal City’s largest park. Baltimore County criticized for watered down stormwater management in proposed ten-year master plan
At a Baltimore County Council public hearing on Tuesday evening, an advocate criticized the county planning board for prioritizing stream restoration efforts over comprehensive stormwater management, which is more effective when addressing flooding concerns. MLK Day weekend brings Metro closures on Blue, Orange, Silver, and Red Lines
Metro will close Rosslyn and Court House stations (Blue, Orange, and Silver Lines) from January 12 to 15 for maintenance. The Red Line between Takoma and Forest Glen will shut down on January 13 and 14. The closures are for critical maintenance work, including rail replacement and infrastructure upgrades. Arlington County seeks community input for Gulf Branch restoration project
The Gulf Branch restoration project, starting in 2025, aims to address erosion, infrastructure issues, and habitat degradation in the Gulf Branch Stream. Although project planning began in 2019, it was temporarily halted due to budget constraints during COVID-19.
