MDOT announces plans to extend MARC into Virginia, Delaware
The Maryland Department of Transportation announced it’s reached a deal with the Virginia Rail Authority to potentially bring MARC service into Alexandria. Additionally, it reached a deal with Delaware Transit Corp. to extend service from Perryville to Newark, Delaware. It’s part of a greater initiative to bridge public transit between the three states. 14th Street Bridge to undergo $90 million in renovations
The US Department of Transportation has announced it will provide $72 million as part of the $90 million total in renovations for the 14th Street Bridge connecting DC and Arlington. Amazon applies for $152 million in HQ2 incentives from Virginia
Amazon has applied for approximately $152 million in incentives from the Commonwealth of Virginia for HQ2 and the resulting development in Crystal City and Pentagon City, the first round of up to $750 million. Innovation Center Metro station development straddling Fairfax, Loudoun County approaches approval
The Loudoun County Board of Supervisors has scheduled a vote on the Rivana at Innovation Station development for May 16. First proposed in 2008, if the project moves forward as planned, it will be among the largest mixed-use development projects in the country. The property is one of several that are either adjacent to or straddle the Loudoun/Fairfax County line and take advantage of zoning provisions made around the Silver Line Metro stations. MCDOT holding Metro “Travel Training” for seniors
The Montgomery County Department of Transportation has two upcoming workshops to help residents over 50 better understand Metro. Six candidates compete for open seat in Maryland House of Delegates
On Wednesday evening, the Montgomery County Democratic Central Committee held a public forum for the six candidates vying for a seat in the Maryland House of Delegates previously held by Kirill Reznik. Fairfax County to explore additional bike lines and crosswalks as part of annual process
Each year from April to November, the Virginia Department of Transportation repaves thousands of miles of roadway. In anticipation of this year’s process, Fairfax County is exploring redeveloping some of its 1700 miles of roadway for crosswalks and bike lanes.
