Long Bridge reconstruction to double train capacity could be delayed by inflation
Virginia officials announced that the construction of a new span of Long Bridge over the Potomac could be delayed if the once fully-funded project can’t find the funds to account for cost inflation. The project, set to open in 2030, will add a passenger railroad-only bridge span, add an extra track to the existing three near L’Enfant Plaza, and attach a pedestrian and bike path along the existing bridge connecting East Potomac Park in DC and Long Bridge Park in Virginia. WMATA seeks help from local police departments to boost security on transit
WMATA is getting officers from local police departments and special police officers to help patrol rail and bus stations by paying overtime rates. MoCo to study rent regulations to inform rent stabilization bills

Another vehicle-related pedestrian death along Route 1 in Ft. Belvoir
A pedestrian died after being struck by a motorist near Route 1 and the Fairfax County Parkway near Fort Belvoir, Virginia. The incident follows another vehicle-related pedestrian death along Route 1 over a week ago. Police have been attempting to get drivers to slow down on Route 1 by stepping up traffic enforcement.
