Events: Learn how travel patterns in DC have shifted since 2019

Join Greater Greater Washington this Wednesday for a webinar discussing what we know about how people are moving in, around, and through the District of Columbia.

In July 2022, GGWash commissioned Nelson\Nygaard to analyze StreetLight Insight data to better understand patterns of travel as the District emerged from Covid lockdowns. Our original research compares trips taken by car, by bike, on foot, and by Metrorail and Metrobus in March 2019 versus March 2022, at the District and ward level. A forthcoming report will show all our findings; we’re excited to share the highlights with the public. Register to attend the webinar here.

Discuss how we can reimagine delinquent property tax enforcement: Join this webinar held by the Center for Community Progress in learning about delinquent property tax enforcement as a powerful tool to interrupt the cycle of vacancy and decline. In many places, delinquent property tax enforcement is inequitable, ineffective, and inefficient. In addition to being a massive impediment to rehabbing vacant properties, delinquent property tax enforcement often exploits the most vulnerable homeowners, replicating the unjust and racist history of displacing residents and eliminating generational wealth. When delinquent property tax enforcement is used purely as a financial collection mechanism, governed by short-term budget needs, it can negatively impact a community’s future.
