Goodbye and gratitude from our Managing Editor

Dear readers, I wanted to take a moment to express my gratitude as I move on from GGWash. George Jordan is filling in as we transition to a new Managing Editor.

While I’m excited to get some rest and for my next move, I’m wistful about stepping back from a role that’s been such an incredible learning experience over the past couple of years. Working here taught me new ways to understand the world around us. As editor I strove to make our coverage more multifaceted and representative of the people here, to put equity and environmental sustainability at the forefront of all of our work, and to professionalize the publication and create journalistic structures that the next editor can build on.

It’s been a joy to work with and learn from our passionate, visionary staff and community of volunteer contributors, correspondents, and commenters, and to mentor the next generation of local journalists with our urbanist journalism fellowship. I’m grateful to you all for reading, writing, sending tips, sharing our articles and your expertise, and otherwise supporting the publication. With your help, GGWash is growing, and I’m excited to see it continue to evolve.

If you’d like to get in touch, don’t hesitate to reach out at strupp.j@gmail.com. Thank you for all you do to make this region more sustainable, safe, equitable, and overall, greater.

Warmly,
Julie
