Do you want to build and execute a broad-based fundraising strategy to ensure financial sustainability for a small and growing nonprofit organization? Greater Greater Washington is looking for a talented, motivated development leader to handle foundation grant writing, corporate relations, major gifts, a membership program, and blog advertising.

Greater Greater Washington is a volunteer-driven, nonprofit organization that brings people together online and offline to discuss, organize, and advocate for an inclusive, diverse, growing Washington, DC region where all people can choose to live in walkable urban communities.

Greater Greater Washington is a 501(c)(4) nonprofit organization with a 501(c)(3) fiscal sponsor.

About the role

The Development Director will serve as a core member of Greater Greater Washington’s leadership team and will work closely with the Executive Director, Managing Director, and Board. The Development Director will serve as a fundraising generalist whose primary responsibility is designing and executing a comprehensive development plan and identifying and securing gifts from foundations, individuals, and corporations.

It is expected that the Development Director will have three core areas of focus: obtaining new grant funding, planning and executing an ongoing membership campaign for blog readers, and selling site advertising to monetize ggwash.org. Key responsibilities include:

This is a full­-time, salaried position with compensation in the range of approximately $60,000-70,000 commensurate with experience. The Development Director will work primarily from Greater Greater Washington’s offices at our space at WeWork, 1440 G Street NW, Washington, DC.

We offer a benefits package that includes health insurance contributions, transit or bicycle commuter benefits, 401(k), and flexible paid time off. Work is mainly during the business day but will require occasional evening commitments for events.
