It’s still raining

Maryland’s House Environment and Transportation Committee rejected Governor Larry Hogan’s attempt to repeal impact fees for impervious surfaces that cause runoff and pollute the Chesapeake Bay. (Wash. Times)

Where should they go?

Although Mayor Gray tried to empty DC General, the cold winter has filled the troubled shelter to capacity. Problems at the shelter continue, and may spread further as the city tries to house people in motels. (Post, City Paper)

Skewed scores

Despite concerns that some charter schools are too selective or encourage weak students to leave,  few students drop out of the best schools. Some charter schools are helping push students to do better. (Post)

Millenials are voting

In DC, more people aged 25 to 34 voted in the last election than did seniors. It is unclear if this was temporary due to the marijuana legalization, or a sign to candidates to update their messages. (Post)

Greener grass

Montgomery County is considering banning some pesticides that are used for cosmetic purposes. The chemicals may cause cancer but some people want the freedom to have a perfect lawn. (Post)
