MoCo officials release report on Vision Zero progress
Serious and fatal crashes on Montgomery County roads decreased by 15% from July 2021 to July 2022. County lawmakers and transportation officials celebrated the progress, but also vowed to continue efforts that could include speed enforcement cameras and traffic calming infrastructure improvements. DC street vendors push for council vote on decriminalizing their work
Although street vending will be decriminalized in 2025, the DC Council could pass a bill that would decriminalize it sooner, and has already held public hearings on it. Street vendors demonstrated outside Council Chair Phil Mendelson’s office building on Tuesday to urge the council to pass the bills before the new year. 95% of all vendors arrested in the last 3 years were people of color.

Alexandria is testing an electric trash truck
Alexandria is piloting an electric trash pickup vehicle to gauge how it could be used to reduce pollution and fuel consumption. Fairfax County receives development recommendations for Springfield Town Center
The Fairfax County Economic Development Authority commissioned a study examining the market for commercial and residential development near the Springfield Town Center. It found that no new multifamily residential housing had been developed there in 20 years.
