Play a part in expanding DC’s low-stress bike network: Join WABA’s campaign to build DC’s low-stress bike network, in every ward and every neighborhood, block by block. We know that our streets get safer and more accessible when we organize and demand safe mobility. So let’s get organized! If you are passionate about making DC’s streets more bikeable, walkable, and safe for all, this is the place for you.

At tonight’s meeting starting at 7:00 pm, participants will hear short updates on low-stress street campaigns around DC, talk through major opportunities for action, and participate in short workshops on helpful advocate skills. Then they will break out into groups by Ward for working sessions on the next steps of individual campaigns in each Ward. This is a great opportunity to meet advocates and neighbors working for specific street changes in your community and get involved. Register for the event here.

WABA’s first priority is to provide a fun, inclusive, and safe environment for all participants. All participants are expected to read and abide by WABA’s Code of Conduct, found here.

Ring in the holiday season at the 16th Annual Capitol Hill Christmas Tree Lighting: In 2007, the Capitol Hill Business Improvement District (BID) planted a 20-foot evergreen tree (species Cedrus deodara) in the large circle garden at Eastern Market Metro Plaza to honor their founding President George Didden III. The tree is beautifully decorated by the BID’s “men in blue” every December, and illuminated in front of the Capitol Hill community to kick off the holiday season.

Each year, the tree lighting ceremony brings out more and more community members for what has become a true holiday tradition on The Hill. Join the Capitol Hill BID from 5:30-6:00 pm on Sunday, November 26 for the 16th annual illuminating of the tree. This year, an extra special programmed light show presented by Barracks Row Main Street will be debuted at the event and play throughout the month of December. For more information, please see here.
