Three miles of road along Georgia Avenue NW will be car-free, as part of the return of Open Streets DC, being held from 10 am to 3 pm, this Saturday.

There will be five activation zones along the route with games, classes, and demonstrations. Businesses along Georgia Avenue will also provide outdoor space for dining. This event is free and open to everyone. Click here for more information.

Centering a Black Queer Feminist Urbanist future: How can planners create better spaces for Queer Black women? Join Kristen Jeffers, author of The Black Urbanist blog, and former GGWash Contributor and Board member, for the Black Feminist Urbanist Festival and Summit, a suite of virtual and live events designed to “celebrate and solidify Black Queer Feminist Urbanist spaces and places.” This festival begins from 2 pm 11:30 pm, October 1. Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month: This Friday from 4 pm to 9 pm at the newly revamped Franklin Park, you can learn to Salsa, as part of Hispanic Heritage Month with DCBX. More events are scheduled for the rest of the month. Click here for details.
