It’s official. As the theme song to that classic 80s sitcom “The Jeffersons” proclaims: “We’re movin’ on up.” GGWash will be working with Local News Now (LNN) as our advertising partner.

Scott Brodbeck, Founder and CEO of LNN, and his team, have been working on advertising and media with local new outlets since 2010. They work with outlets like ARLnow, Tysons Reporter, PoPville and more.

As we continue to find ways for our publication to be sustainable, grow, and provide coverage about the urbanist issues in our region, this partnership is the next evolution in that journey.

Why are we partnering with LNN?

Our publication is able to continue mostly because of readers like you. Just over the last few weeks 602 of you pitched in to help us raise $25,022. That goes a long way to keep our coverage going, thank you so much!

In order to maintain and expand our coverage, we want and need additional sources of funding. By working with LNN, we hope to bring in some much needed additional support for the publication so that Libby and I can continue to write and edit articles, build relationships with contributors, and hopefully expand our department and provide more coverage on the issues you want to read about.

The publication and organization reached this decision over extensive contemplation and careful consideration of our readers, community, and mission. It allows us to focus on what we do best, while LNN’s team provides responsive service to the advertisers who support GGWash.

The editorial team, as well as our edit board, LNN and our organization have been working hard to ensure that our advertisements will be mission aligned and do not disturb the reader experience.

While LNN is also a news publisher itself, our agreement is limited to advertising and our editorial content is separate. We make that pretty clear here. In fact, it is our hope that by creating another revenue stream, GGWash, the publication, can continue to provide independent journalism in the longer term.

We also have support from foundations and local businesses. You can read more about our supporters here.

Pardon our dust

Over the past few months you may have noticed some weird stuff on our site: huge blocks of open space, weird links. That’s all been part of the process of figuring out what we want our program to look like. There will be some changes coming, but we hope you’ll find them relatively unobtrusive.

As always, we welcome your feedback on our advertisements and are excited for this partnership, which will ultimately give us the resources to keep the site running.

If you’d like to advertise your business, initiative, or upcoming event in the GGWash publication, we’d be honored! Please reach out to Lene Query at lene@lnnllc.com or by calling 703-348-0583 .

Thanks as always for reading.
