Events: Learn about programs to improve health outcomes for communities of color

In many cities including DC, communities of color have been hit hardest by COVID-19, in part, because of long-standing racial and ethnic injustices in the United States.

On Wednesday at 2 pm, a group of race and health experts will gather virtually to discuss policies and programs that can improve the health and well-being of communities of color, beyond the coronavirus pandemic.

Panelists include: Danyelle Solomon, vice president, race and ethnicity policy at the Center for American Progress; Joia Crear-Perry, founder and president at the National Birth Equity Collaborative; Derrick Beetso, general counsel at the National Congress of American Indians; and Jamila Taylor, director of health care reform and senior fellow at The Century Foundation.

Get some history on the movement for black lives: As protests continue in DC and across the country, it’s important to understand why this movement for black lives is necessary, how it will progress, and what you can do to contribute. That’s why author Keeanga-Yamahtta Taylor and journalist Marc Lamont Hill will be in conversation to discuss the past, present, and future of the fight for a world where black bodies are protected from racism and police violence.
