I have been asked by more than a few people why I joined the Greater Greater Washington board of directors, why I donate to the organization, and why I write. The answer is simple: these are issues I care about; the dialogue is thoughtful and (mostly) respectful; and the team is borderline heroic. GGWash is what the future of thoughtful, fact-based modern news, opinion, and advocacy looks like.

As a board member I have committed to write a few posts, attend meet-ups, and go to our board meetings. Last year I wrote about how Metro would do well to borrow a business idea from Southwest Airlines and why federal employees shouldn’t quit because of the election results, and I’m currently amidst a three-part series on how to make some major changes at WMATA

I have also committed to both contribute and raise money, which I am doing. I am honored to play a small part in it by making a contribution of time and treasure.

Can we count on you to do the same?

If all of us who benefit from being part of this community each pitched in, we can make sure it continues to grow, thrive, diversify and make a difference. Together, we can make the Washington DC region a better place. Will you do your part by making a donation today?

And for your readership, partnership, support and engagement, I know I speak for the whole Board, the staff and volunteers, when I say: Thank you.
