Rapid buses coming rapidly: WMATA has a priority list of 24 corridors to get the rapid bus treatment including limited-stop express service and “signal priority” technology to hold yellow lights for buses, reports BeyondDC. Last night, Jim Hamre of WMATA presented details to Maryland’s Action Committee for Transit. Tops on the list for DC are the 16th Street S1/S2/S4.

The sandwich-shop warriors: Atlantic bloggers Matthew Yglesias and Megan McArdle pile on criticism of the Post’s Sunday hatchet job. McArdle:

Many drivers in DC seem to believe that it is against the law to be in a mode of transportation that goes more slowly than their own, and therefore complain about such “violations” as trying to merge into the exit lane of a traffic circle. … [These suburbanites] want us to pay them for the privilege of hosting their cars 12 hours a day, and picking up the lucrative sandwich shop revenue which they apparently believe is the sole fiscal support of the city.

Turning the Pike: Rockville Central’s Cindy CG posts her reactions to the boulevard and “catalyst sites” devised for Rockville Pike from a community charrette. Cindy’s generally pleased, but wants to ensure Rockville doesn’t replace useful shops with purely expensive boutique retail.
