Union Station’s concourse is getting a facelift. Share you thoughts on this project, as well as on a study of the area around Fort Dupont and the upcoming changes to Beach Drive, which runs through Rock Creek Park. On Friday, cool off and check out an urban-themed art show.

A more modern Union Station: A major project is in the works to renovate Union Station’s transit concourse, the area where passengers wait for Amtrak and MARC trains. Head over to an open house this Thursday, July 28 Tuesday, July 26 , from 4 pm to 7 pm to see the latest design. The meeting will be in the Starlight Room at Union Station (50 Massachusetts Avenue NE).

Livability east of the Anacostia: What could make neighborhoods in DC’s southeast quadrant better in terms of transportation, housing, public health, cultural resources, and nature? The District Department of Transportation is asking that question in its Far Southeast Livability Study, and it wants to hear from you! Share your thoughts at a community advisory meeting this Tuesday, July 26, at 6:30 pm 5001 Central Avenue SE.

Beach Drive rehab: Work to rehabilitate Beach Drive, a main thoroughfare through Rock Creek Park, is slated to begin after Labor Day and will last three years. There will be improvements for walking and biking, and stormwater management. A meeting on the upcoming work will be this Thursday, July 28, at the Cleveland Park Neighborhood Library (3310 Connecticut Avenue NW) at 7 pm.

Urban art show: Take in some urban-inspired culture this week at an art show exploring “the dweling from various points of view.” Attend the opening of Outside-In this Friday, July 29, at 7pm, at the Smith Center for the Healing Arts (1632 U Street NW) or view the show while its on display until September 2.
