New housing at St. Joseph’s: Space behind the St. Joseph’s Seminary in Michigan Park is slated for 82 new rowhouses, along with new park space and other amenities.

EYA, the developer, will share details about the project at an open house this Tuesday, July 12, at 7:30 pm at 1200 Varnum Street NE.

Go solar: Interested in going solar? Neighborhoods across DC are forming co-ops to make it easier and more affordable to get solar panels. Attend this info session on Wednesday, July 13, at 6:30pm, to learn about solar energy and the benefits of a co-op platform. The meeting is at the SE Neighborhood Library (403 7th Street SE).

Livability in ward 7: What could make neighborhoods in ward 7 better for residents? The District Department of Transportation wants to hear from you! Share your thoughts on transportation and livability at the community advisory meeting on Tuesday, July 26, at 6:30 pm 5001 Central Avenue SE.

Modernize Union Station: A major project is in the works to renovate Union Station’s transit concourse, the area where passengers wait for the trains. Head over to an open house on Tuesday, July 26, from 4 pm to 7 pm to see the latest design. The meeting will be in the Starlight Room at Union Station (50 Massachusetts Avenue NE).

Challenges for TOD: Head over to Action Committee for Transit’s meeting this month to hear from McLean Quinn, the vice president of EYA, about the challenges of building housing near transit. The meeting is this Tuesday, July 12. It starts at 7:30 pm at the Silver Spring Civic Building, One Veterans Place.

GGWash happy hour: Spend the evening with fellow urban planning, transit, and housing enthusiasts, at our July happy hour on Tuesday, July 19. It’s at Trade (1410 14th Street NW), from 6 pm to 8 pm. Join us!
