Share your thoughts this week on transit and growth in Maryland, new bike lanes in Fairfax, I-395 HOT lanes, and traveling from east to west in the District. Have some fun at the Action Committee for Transit’s 30th anniversary, and enjoy the outdoors at the reopening of a park in Silver Spring.

Growing transportation needs: As new houses go up in Montgomery County, the quality of the surrounding transportation infrastructure will be put to the test. Head over to Montgomery County’s Subdivision Staging Policy’s community meeting this Tuesday, April 12 to share your thoughts on how transportation can keep up with new development.

After the jump: cycling in Fairfax, from HOV to HOT, transit in Maryland, new parks, and east-west travel in DC.

Fairfax bike projects: Fairfax’s Braddock District may get new bike lanes as part of road paving projects this summer. Come show your support at a community meeting this Tuesday, April 12th, from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm at Canterbury Woods Elementary School (4910 Willet Drive).

ACT anniversary: Action Committee for Transit’s monthly meeting is celebrating its 30th anniversary! Join the festivities Tuesday, April 12th at 6 pm at Bump ‘N Grind (1200 East-West Highway) in Silver Spring.

HOV to HOT: I-395 HOV lanes could become High Occupancy Toll (HOT) lanes, which would mean road widening and fluctuating tolls. Learn more about the project and the accompanying environmental assessment at a meeting this Wednesday, April 13, from 6 pm to 9 pm at 4646 Seminary Road in Alexandria.

Maryland transit CEO: Hear from Maryland Transit Administration CEO Paul Comfort at this month’s Transportation Tuesday program at the American Public Transit Association. It’s this Thursday, April 14, at 5 pm 1300 I Street NW. Please RSVP to attend.

Celebrate parks: Ring in spring at the reopening of North Four Corners Park, at 315 University Boulevard West in Silver Spring at 2 pm on Sunday, April 17. There will be sports, games, live music, ribbon-cutting, giveaways, and more to commemorate the revitalized green space. Enjoy!

East-west travel in DC: Traveling across the District can be difficult. A new study could help identify improvements along the east-west corridor between Wards 1 and 5. Hear about preliminary concepts and share your opinions on the project next Wednesday, April 20, from 6 pm to 8 pm at 770 Kenyon St NW.
