Preservation and Planning: DC is likely to grow to 800,000 people, but how? On Tuesday, January 26, historic preservationists, real estate development professionals, and community stakeholders will come together with Mayor Bowser to discuss the challenges of growth, development, and historic preservation in the city. The event begins at 5 pm at the Carnegie Library (801 K St NW).

GGWash happy hour: Our next happy hour will be held with 730DC at Songbyrd Café in Adams Morgan (2477 18th St NW) next Thursday, January 28, from 6 pm to 9 pm. We will have a special activity as well as food and drink specials. Don’t miss it!

DC Transit in Transition: New options are changing the way we travel in DC. Join panelists from DDOT, Zipcar, Split, Lyft, Riide, and TransitScreen this Wednesday, January 20, from 6 pm to 8 pm to talk about the impacts of these new travel options on infrastructure, policy and our community. The event will be at 1990 K Street NW.

Data in transit planning: The Montgomery County Planning Department is holding a Winter Speaker Series about new ideas in transit. In the first session, this Wednesday, January 20, listen to Nat Bottigheimer of Fehr & Peers talk about using big data to analyze transit planning. The series will be at the Montgomery County Planning Department headquarters (8787 Georgia Avenue) from 6 to 7:30 pm.

16th Street bus lanes: A new dedicated rush hour bus system could run along 16th Street, from Arkansas Avenue to H Street. Share your opinion on the plan at the final meeting this Thursday, January 21, at 1529 16th Street NW. The space will be open from 3:30 pm to 8 pm and there will be two presentations, one at 4 pm and one at 7 pm.

Start-Up City: Gabe Klein, the former DC Director of Transportation, has many ideas about how to use “public entrepreneurship” to create quick and meaningful change in cities. Hear him discuss these ideas and others from his new book,
