Metro’s new 7000-series cars have been slow to arrive, but the pace should pick up next year. Metro’s general manager says the company building the cars has guaranteed eight new cars a month starting in February. (WTOP)
Peak peaking
More Metrorail riders are commuting outside of the traditional rush hour. Off peak trips have been growing for most parts of the region, probably because more employers and employees are using flexible work schedules. (PlanItMetro)
Prince George’s saves energy
Prince George’s wants more “net zero” houses, which generate more energy than they use. Remodelers can make houses net-zero by installing solar panels, energy-efficient appliances, and other features. (Post)
Don’t fill ‘er up
Montgomery County blocked a Costco gas station in Wheaton again, saying the station could harm the health of local residents. Costco has been trying to open a gas station in Wheaton for five years. (Post)
Pentagon City popping up
Another residential building is coming to Pentagon City. Vornado wants to build over 500 new units in a 22-story building on South Eads Street, near lots of other new residential and office development projects. (WBJ)
