Rail plan: The District Department of Transportation is taking a closer look at the future of passenger and freight rail in DC. Attend the public meeting on the subject today, September 28, at 5:30 pm at 1345 Potomac Ave SE to hear about and comment on the State Rail Plan.

Future of planning: Join the crowd at the APA Policy and Advocacy Conference tonight for a conversation with Eric Shaw, DC’s Director of Planning. He’ll talk about local planning issues and nationwide trends, and you’ll have a chance to network with conference attendees and area planners. There’s no cost or need to register, and there are free appetizers!

MoCo BRT: A Bus Rapid Transit system will hopefully increase transit accessibility in Montgomery County. Share your opinion on the project and the Task Force Report at the public forum on Wednesday, September 30, at 6 pm in the 3rd floor hearing room of 100 Maryland Ave. Public comments runs until 10 pm.

16th Street study: The 16th street corridor is one of the busiest for commuters. The District Department of Transportation has come up with three alternatives for a section of 16th Street that intent to improve traffic flow. Learn about and give thoughts on the alternatives and next steps at a meeting this Wednesday, September 30, at the Chastleton Cooperative (1701 16th St NW).

Walkable Wisconsin: Wisconsin Avenue in Upper Northwest DC has not always been seen as pedestrian friendly, but new changes could create a a corridor that’s easier to walk and bike around. Learn about the new projects coming to the area at Coalition for Smarter Growth’s Wisconsin Avenue Walking Tour this Saturday, October 3, at 10am. RSVP is requested.

Greenbelt growth: Economic growth is important in any jurisdiction. Join the Greenbelt Community Development Corporation for a public panel on economic development in Greenbelt this Sunday, October 4, at 1 pm at the Old Greenbelt Theatre (129 Centerway, Greenbelt).
