Was Metro negligent in keeping driver?

Amanda Mahnke, who was hit by a bus driver in September, is suing Metro, claiming it was negligent in not firing the driver despite a history of crashes. (Fox5)

PG backs down on cameras

Prince George’s County Executive Jack Johnson has caved to the anti-enforcement backlash, deciding not to put some speed cameras in school zones because they would be unpopular and are “just a way of taking money out of citizens’ pockets.” The County will use mobile devices instead to move around to trouble areas; it’s not clear why that is less of a “tax.” But Johnson is not the only one; anti-enforcement crusading is making some headway in Arizona. Only a month or two?

New York City has a new law requiring a period of public input on certain major street projects. Streetsblog is disappointed, because NYC DOT is doing some great stuff, but soliciting community input is a good thing. Besides, a month or two of input is the least we could have here, where even longer periods of debate are quite common. (Streetsblog)
