Spice up your summer! Weigh in and help make Vision Zero a reality, learn about how plastic affects the Chesapeake Bay, or hear about a new public space in Arlington. If you want an adventure, choose your own path at WABA’s Anacostia scavenger hunt.

Envision Vision Zero: The District Department of Transportation wants your input to help make Vision Zero a reality, so it’s hosting public meetings in all eight wards. This week, they are in Ward 7 (July 29, 5 pm, Minnesota Ave Metro), Ward 5 (July 30, 5 pm, Rhode Island Metro), and Ward 6 (August 1, 11 am, Eastern Market Metro).

After the jump: Transit happy hour, trash in Chesapeake Bay, new public space, and a scavenger hunt.

Drinks for transit: Plans are advancing for bus rapid transit in Montgomery County. Get the latest update at a happy hour hosted by Coalition for Smarter Growth and Communities for Transit on Tuesday, July 28, at 6 pm at Brickside Food & Drink in Bethesda (4866 Cordell Avenue).

Trash free Bay: The Chesapeake Bay is one of the most important ecosystems in our region. Join Trash Free Maryland, Captain Charles Moore, and Julie Lawson, for a discussion on the effects and prevention of plastic pollution in the Chesapeake and beyond this Tuesday, July 28, at 5:30 pm at 1320 15th Street NW, Suite 500.

Greater space: A new public square that will be an anchor for ground floor retail and market rate housing is coming to Columbia Pike and South George Mason Drive. Learn more at an open house on Thursday, July 30, at 5:30 at 2700 South Taylor Street in Arlington.

Scavenger bike ride: Feeling adventurous? Join WABA and DC United on Saturday, August 1, for a Choose Your Own Adventure Scavenger Hunt on the Anacostia River. Come outfitted with a bike, helmet, team, and (optional) costume. The ride starts at 3 pm at the RFK Stadium Lot #7 at Benning Road NE.
