Stay active this summer! Make the streets safer by sharing your input on Vision Zero, learn about the solutions to Metro woes, and find out more about safety improvement to our streets.

Metro’s future: Metro is up against a lot of challenges. Join Montgomery County Council Transportation, Infrastructure, Energy & Environment Committee Chair Roger Berliner, Councilmembers Nancy Floreen and Tom Hucker, and several other speakers to discuss short and long term solutions. The forum will be on Wednesday July 22, from 6 pm to 9 pm in the 3rd Floor Hearing Room at 100 Maryland Ave in Rockville.

After the jump: Vision Zero, safer streets, a greener city, and knowing your neighbors.

Envision Vision Zero: The District Department of Transportation wants your input to help make Vision Zero a reality. There will be public meetings in all eight wards. This week, they are in Ward 4 (July 21, 5pm, Takoma Park Metro), Ward 8 (July 23, 3:30 pm, Anacostia Metro), and Ward 2 (July 25, 11 am, M Street and Wisconsin Ave NW, and July 27, 3:30pm, 7th and H Street NW).

Getting safer: DDOT wants to make 15th St NW safer. Learn more at a public meeting on Wednesday July 22, from 6:30 to 8:30 pm 1419 V St NW.

Greener and Greater: Celebrate Parks and Recreation Month at the Casey Trees Tree Advocates Meeting. Keith Anderson, DC’s Director of Parks and Recreation, and Peter Harnik, Director of the Trust for Public Land’s Center for City Park Excellence, will discuss how to make our green spaces better places to play and relax. The event is on Thursday July 23, from 6 to 8:30 pm at 3030 12th Street Northeast. It includes dinner.

Know your neighborhood: Prince George’s County is rewriting its zoning regulations and wants you to help guide the process. Learn about how the new zoning will affect your neighborhood, share your ideas, and get to know fellow community members at a meeting on Saturday July 25 from 10 am to 12 pm at 8001 Sherrif Rd in Landover.
