Green DC: Do you care about a sustainable DC? Tommy Wells, the Director of the District Department of the Environment, will discuss clean energy, waste reduction, sustainability, and environmental policy in the District at a forum hosted by the DC Chapter of the Sierra Club this Thursday, May 7, from 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm at 50 F St NW Suite 800. Bicycle counts: Ever wondered how many people ride bikes in Alexandria? The city needs volunteers to help find out. The Alexandria Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee is counting on Thursday, May 7 from 5 to 7 pm and Saturday, May 9 from noon to 2 pm. Be sure to sign up if you can help!

Innovative infrastructure: Metropolitan planning organizations nationwide are supporting social equity and creating more livable communities in efforts to find innovative ways to use land and plan transportation. Learn more at the American Planning Association’s Tuesdays at APA, next Tuesday, May 12, at 5:30 pm at 1030 15th St NW Suite 750.

Safe suburban streets: Head over to this month’s Action Committee for Transit meeting with Bill Schultheiss, Toole Design Group’s vice president, to learn about creating complete streets in the suburbs. The meeting is next Tuesday, May 12. It starts at 7:30 at the Silver Spring Civic Center, One Veterans Place.

Crystal City stroll: Join the Coalition for Smarter Growth’s special evening walking tour next Tuesday, May 12, at 6:30 pm, to learn about how bikeshares and placemaking contribute to Crystal City’s newly-vibrant urban center. Don’t forget to RSVP!
