Then and Now: 1700 block of Pennsylvania Ave, NW
Left: The buildings at 1712-1716 Pennsylvania Avenue, NW, photographed either in late 1920 or early 1921. The building to the left houses the Tuxedo Chinese-American Restaurant, the building under construction will become a bank and was being built by the Society of Savings and Loans, and the building to the right replaced a popular restaurant, bar, and cafe in 1917 to become a post office.
Right: Today this section of the street is occupied by the Mills Building. There is still a post office on this block at 1750 Pennsylvania Avenue.
