Each government in the region maintains a Transportation Improvement Plan, or TIP, listing the projects it plans, when it plans to do them, and how much the project will cost. DC released its latest TIP this spring. Below is a map of the street reconstruction and other streetscape projects in the TIP.

FY09 projects are red, FY10 orange, FY11 purple, FY12 blue, and FY13 and later green. The narrow lines represent projects listed as “safety improvements” which have relatively little money assigned to them; this probably means they involve some repaving and repair but not as substantial work. Of course, the list can always change, but as far as DDOT has announced, this represents their current plans. The H Street-Benning Road Great Streets project, which is already underway, doesn’t appear on the list.

The TIP has much more than just these streetscapes. There are many bridge reconstructions, from the enormous 11th Street Bridges project to small bridges over railroad tracks, freeways and Rock Creek. The TIP also lists money for alley repavings, streetlights, bike trails like the Metropolitan Branch, bike racks, technology systems, thermoplastic pavement markings, and more.
