A tipster just passed along the (unconfirmed)

news that Metro reporter Eric Weiss is leaving the Washington Post. According to the source, other reporters will split up the topics Weiss has been covering.

We’ve frequently criticized articles by Weiss for his driver-centric slant and incendiary ledes, and even mocked his “war on drivers” frame during April Fool’s Day. We won’t miss the articles riling up drivers against government policies that don’t place their interests above all else. On the other hand, the Post has been cutting back on its metro area coverage for many years, and if this change means fewer reporters writing about our region and less space in the Post for local issues, we’ve all lost something. Lena Sun, don’t go anywhere!

I’ll post more as further details emerge.

Update: Another very reliable source has confirmed the news.

David Alpert created Greater Greater Washington in 2008 and was its executive director until 2020. He formerly worked in tech and has lived in the Boston, San Francisco Bay, and New York metro areas in addition to Washington, DC. He lives with his wife and two children in Dupont Circle.
