DDOT proposes Eckington bike lane, commissioner opposes
DDOT wants to help people on bikes traverse R Street in Eckington with sharrows and a one-block contraflow lane. ANC commissioner Sylvia Pinkney is organizing a petition to oppose the project, but some of her fellow commissioners and neighbors don’t share her distaste. R Street has an existing bike lane west of Florida Avenue, but there is a gap in Eckington, where people… Keep reading…

It’s laden with contempt for AU students, from their existing living in residential areas to the kinds of blinds or tapestries they hang in the windows. Each DC university is required to submit a campus plan every 10 years. This decennial process opens the wounds of town-gown relations. American… Keep reading…

Restaurants and bars enhance commercial district diversity

In November 2010, ANC6B established a Retail Mix Task Force (RMTF), which entertained, but ultimately rejected, the idea of pursuing a moratorium on liquor license applications on Barracks Row. Restaurants, it decided, complement other activities. Not only did the RMTF reject the moratorium, but it also suggested… Keep reading…

But can Prospect Street residents, who undoubtedly paid handsomely for their views of the Potomac, have any say in a project… Keep reading…
