Great East Falls Church plan approaching the finish line
The Arlington County Board will be voting tomorrow on whether to adopt the East Falls Church area plan. They should enthusiastically support this great proposal. Today, too much of the environment around the East Falls Church Metro station is dominated by wide roads and fast traffic which makes walking and bicycling and access to the station difficult and unsafe. I-66 has divided… Keep reading…

Does DC need more councilmembers?
When candidates for the at-large DC Council seat were quizzed on amending DC’s Home Rule Charter at a Tuesday night forum, some local journalists deemed their answers unsatisfactory. However, Patrick Mara, Bryan Weaver, and Sekou Biddle all gave some variation on an answer that deserves much more credit: Enlarge the DC Council. After the Pew Charitable Trust released… Keep reading…

Restaurants, it decided, complement other activities. Not only did the RMTF reject the moratorium, but it also suggested… Keep reading…

Take Metro in a wheelchair, just once
Do Metro executives know what the Metro is like for a person who uses a wheelchair? When Deena Larsen, a wheelchair-using Denver resident, took the Metro from Union Station to Smithsonian to see the cherry blossoms, the trip was so frustrating that she cried.First, I tried for 20 minutes to find an accessible elevator at Union Station. I was directed to a long hall and four… Keep reading…

Standard voting creates strategic quandary for at-large race
I’d love to see Sekou Biddle, Patrick Mara, and Bryan Weaver all get seats on the DC Council. All three are smart and have generally good policy ideas. I’d vote for any of the three over at least half of the incumbents. Unfortunately, only one can win on April 26. Or, very possibly, none of these will. For the many residents who’d prefer one of several candidates… Keep reading…
