Our Readers, Staff, and Board

A small team of staff drives many of the vital behind-the-scenes functions of the blog and our organization.

Board of Directors

Our board focuses on the strategic direction of the organization and ensures we can remain sustainable and strong for the long term.

Editorial Board

Our volunteer editors, in addition to writing many of the posts that you see on the blog, help make decisions about the content we publish. They also take on specific portfolios which help keep the blog running in many invaluable ways.

Advocacy Strategy Team

These volunteers, who have expertise in online and offline organizing, help us decide when and on which issues we should do action alerts or otherwise organize readers and others to action.

Readers and Commenters

Readers and commenters play an important role in deepening and spreading dialogue about how the Washington region can grow and improve. We count elected officials, reporters, urban planners, and civically engaged residents among our more than 200,000 unique visitors and more than 500,000 page views every month.

As other media sites are closing their comment platforms, Greater Greater Washington’s is thriving! Our comment threads provide significant extra value to readers beyond what is in the individual articles. That doesn’t mean our commenters always, agree, though. We encourage differing opinions and seek to create a space where people feel safe posting their ideas without worrying about personal attack. Maintaining this requires care and pruning of the comment threads.

Our comment policy helps maintain a space for respectful, educational dialogue that furthers the dialogue in published posts.  We invite you to become part of the conversation as a commenter!
